If you were to ask Nashville recording artist & international singer/songwriter/composer Kathleen Fowle, what the ‘why’ has been throughout her luminous music career, without hesitation she will state what she considers to be the obvious. Her dream has been to deliver love through music. This statement clearly enlightens the path that Kathleen has traveled over the past two decades. The music that flows through her voice and her fingertips has wings of it’s own that flutter in hearts long after the physical sound has stopped. It is plain to see that Kathleen has a unique gift that touches the heart with love and joy. Her dream has come true: Her music changes lives. Simply, exquisitely and profoundly.
As a young child, it was apparent that the desire to be involved in the media of music and songwriting was truly inherited. Having a great-grandfather whose music was nationally published, along with several other family members as accomplished musicians and authors; Kathleen was destined to follow in this design. She has had formal training in many areas, enabling her to not only frequent the stage, but also to use her skills throughout the years in a myriad of ways. Kathleen states, “I realized my music had potential to make people happy or bring peace, love and joy to their lives, so this became my mission. God is the creator, He gives the gift and we create alongside Him."
Kathleen’s training includes piano, voice, brass & reed instruments with emphasis in classical, jazz and composition. From writing music compositions, performing live concerts, sitting principal horn in orchestra, leading worship, producing radio and film documentaries, along with performing with various orchestras, ensembles, string/choral groups, artist in residence overseas and in the U.S. and as guest artist in a variety venues, to publishing a large catalog of music through Two by Two Express,
Kathleen’s accolades are diverse. They follow a red line that encompasses the passion of the music that emanates from within her.
Her studies in journalism and working in various newsrooms have enabled her to have a vast view of the world and it shows throughout her musical writing. Her standards of excellence can be seen throughout all of her accomplishments. However, she states her most compelling accomplishment is obtaining and continuing to develop a relationship with the Lord who is the true Master Artist of her life.
Living & performing in Israel for four years had taken the inner passion that existed within Kathleen to an even higher level. She was able to see, first-hand, how her music touched individuals from within Israel and those visiting from various countries. Her musical missions' The Journey and the Dream emerged while Kathleen was physically located in Israel. This album was written in 2004 and then released in 2005. Following closely on the heels of this creation came The Journey Home, an instrumental art that relayed the love and renewed hope that she had found along the way.
When Kathleen left Israel and returned home to the United States, she asked God to give her clear direction to the question, “What’s next?” As she continued to share her music on the road that question was answered with the creation of her next CD, Fly Free. This album was birthed with her stated mission of bringing joy, love and peace through music penned at the top of the page. Fly Free, the title track, hit the airwaves in 2008 and took a meteoric rise to the top 20 at Christian Radio Weekly on both CHR and AC radio.
It is clear to see what inspires Kathleen. People. Of every size, color, shape and culture. Having performed to thousands over the years, she is able to truly see God’s perfect handiwork through others. She has been given a bird’s eye view into the very hearts of individuals who need. The stories and faces are many, but the truth remains the same. When Kathleen sings, joy happens! It is contagious and blends with her laughter. Adding an entirely new artistic direction that links the media of music directly to the heart.
Kathleen has a special love for people. Someone that she affectionately refers to as her ‘hero’ inspired this love. Her father. His walk with the Lord was one that her tiny footprints were led to follow. He served through the armed forces and when his life abruptly ended, Kathleen’s desire to serve others through her music only intensified. Her own words reiterate this so beautifully. “Dad, You gave your life for our country and with your life, you showed me how Jesus gave His life for me!” Even though the loss of her father left a hole in her heart, over time, God’s intervention in healing this pain filled that hole with a deeper knowledge of His love. With this newfound erudition in her life, Kathleen has taken this and melded it into her music. That inner love had a life and legs of it’s own. One that had come from within, enabling her to share it with people everywhere.
Loving the ocean, Kathleen spent time in New England (for inspiration!) to complete a new vocal album and also a new instrumental project. Kathleen comments "Being back in New England (after being away so many years) and close to the ocean is a dream come true! I will embrace each moment I am able to be here."
The latest album released fall 2011, a rendering of all the above. This project, "Coming Home" which also finds Kathleen as the producer, gathers the past with the present, culminating into a sound that Kathleen fondly refers to as Contemporary Classical.
Kathleen’s plans include continuing to perform sharing her music. When asked though, where she sees herself in the next five years, she will look at you with that infectious smile and exclaim, “I’ll just keep loving on people and God will take care of the rest.” Spoken from a woman, a musician, and an artist who continues to pair music with life."
